President Donald Trump has proposed sending Americans “rebate checks” funded by revenue from tariffs his administration collected from US importers. He suggested this week that a “dividend of at least $2,000” could be paid to everyone, with the exception of high-income individuals.
However, the proposal faces significant hurdles before it could become a reality. The legality of the tariffs is currently under review by the Supreme Court, any distribution of funds would require congressional approval, and the tariff revenue collected is insufficient to cover the amount Trump has promised.
Amid widespread concerns about affordability, we are interested in hearing from you about your financial situation and how you would allocate a payment of this size. We will not publish any part of your story without first contacting you for an interview.
