Yahoo, along with its family of brands including AOL, has outlined its use of cookies and personal data, providing users with distinct options to manage their privacy. The policy details how data is used for both essential site functions and optional purposes such as analytics and personalized advertising.
For core operations, the company utilizes cookies to deliver its sites and apps, authenticate users, apply security measures, and prevent spam. This includes measuring site and app usage with aggregated data that is not tied to specific individuals.
With explicit user consent, Yahoo and its partners—including 237 members of the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework—will also store and access information on a device. This enables the use of personal data, such as precise geolocation, IP addresses, and browsing history, for advanced analytics, personalized content and advertising, audience research, and service development.
Users are given clear choices to either “Accept all” data uses, “Reject all” non-essential data processing, or customize their preferences through a “Manage privacy settings” option. The company also notes that consent can be changed or withdrawn at any time via the privacy links available on its platforms.
