The Houston Texans have waived running back Dameon Pierce as part of several roster moves ahead of their Thursday night matchup against the Bills.
A fourth-round pick in 2022, Pierce was in his fourth season with the team. He had a prominent start to his career, leading the Texans with 939 rushing yards as a rookie. However, his role diminished after falling behind Devin Singletary on the depth chart last year.
This season, Pierce served as the third option in a backfield that includes Woody Marks and Nick Chubb, accumulating 26 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
In corresponding moves, the Texans signed cornerback Ajani Carter to the active roster. The team also temporarily elevated safety Jalen Mills and linebacker Jackson Woodard from the practice squad.
