In a viral video from a celebrity golf tournament, Aaron Rodgers was seen refusing to give a fan an autograph after the fan failed to answer a trivia question about the quarterback’s 2005 rookie season.
The exchange occurred Thursday at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. A fan approached Rodgers with a ticket stub from the Green Bay Packers’ 52-3 victory over the New Orleans Saints on October 9, 2005, a game in which Rodgers saw limited action as Brett Favre’s backup.
The fan recalled Rodgers’ appearance, stating, “I remember you threw a pass.” Rodgers then put the fan’s memory to the test, asking, “Who’d I throw it to?”
The fan was unable to name the receiver, responding, “I don’t remember it like that. I was 16, 20 years ago.”
The correct answer was a pass to fullback Vonta Leach, which resulted in no gain with just over five minutes remaining in the game.
Claiming he remembered the specific play, Rodgers denied the autograph request. “You could look it up though. Then I would believe you, and then I would sign your thing,” Rodgers told the fan. “But since I don’t believe you, I’m not going to sign it.”
The quarterback then dismissed the fan as an “autograph hound,” saying, “Yeah, you are. You can’t fool me.”
