Manchester United have reportedly made a surprising enquiry for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson as they seek to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season.
The club has prioritized signing a new striker this summer to provide competition and support for Rasmus Hojlund. While the young Dane showed promise in his debut campaign, United are keen to add more firepower after struggling for consistent goalscoring form last season. The club has been linked with several established forwards, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres.
According to French journalist Nabil Djellit, United and Aston Villa have both contacted Chelsea to ask about the potential conditions for a deal for Jackson. Djellit reports that Chelsea may be open to a sale for a fee of around €70 million, with a final decision on the player’s future potentially coming after the FIFA Club World Cup. Italian club Napoli is also said to be monitoring the situation.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for approximately £32 million and had a mixed first season at Stamford Bridge. He scored 17 goals across all competitions but also faced criticism for his inconsistency in front of goal. Despite this, his potential has attracted interest from rivals.
It remains to be seen whether United will follow up their initial enquiry with a formal offer as new manager Ruben Amorim assesses his options to strengthen the squad.
