Universitario de Deportes, strong contenders for a third consecutive national championship, will begin their Torneo Clausura campaign this Friday night against Comerciantes Unidos. The club has named recent signings Anderson Santamaría and Jesús Castillo in the squad for the match.
Both players are in line to make their debuts for coach Jorge Fossati’s team. Santamaría is considered the most likely to play, expected to replace Williams Riveros, who is recovering from recent appendicitis surgery.
Meanwhile, Jesús Castillo is seen as the natural replacement for holding midfielder Rodrigo Ureña, amid speculation about the Chilean’s potential transfer to Mexican football.
Universitario will host Comerciantes Unidos this Friday at 8:00 PM (local time) at the Estadio Monumental for the opening matchday of the 2025 Liga1 Torneo Clausura.
