The cast and showrunner of Gen V have revealed key details about the show’s second season, confirming a time jump will separate the student heroes of Godolkin University.
Showrunner Michele Fazekas explained that following the dramatic events of the Season 1 finale, the story will pick up after a leap forward in time. “Everyone starts in a completely different place, and they’re not all together,” Fazekas stated. Some of the students find themselves imprisoned in a mysterious and feared location. “They’re in a place that we have been told in Season 1 [is] the last place you should want to go, which is called Elmira.”
The finale saw Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor / Derek Luh), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Andre (the late Chance Perdomo) captured, while their classmates Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) were publicly lauded as the new “Guardians of Godolkin,” a status reinforced during Season 4 of The Boys. This new hierarchy has created a rift among the students, with Phillips describing the group dynamic as “a little tense” and “not totally peaceful.”
Adding to the tension is a change in leadership at the university. Hamish Linklater joins the cast as Dean Cipher, a new authority figure for a new era. “A lot has changed at Godolkin University since Season 1. We’re now in Homelander’s America,” Linklater explained. “He’s a Dean for that America.”
Season 2 will also feature a crossover with The Boys, as a trailer teased Starlight recruiting Marie for a mission. Jaz Sinclair noted that Marie, who is in a vulnerable position, is wary of the offer. “She doesn’t really know this girl,” Sinclair said of Starlight. “So I think there’s a healthy amount of excitement and flattery, but also skepticism of like, why should I trust you to send me on this mission?”
Gen V Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on September 17 on Prime Video.
