Zagreb is cementing its status as one of Europe’s most dynamic urban destinations, with recent figures from the city’s tourist board revealing significant growth. In July, the Croatian capital saw a 2% rise in tourist arrivals and an 8% increase in overnight stays, welcoming over 151,000 visitors who generated nearly 282,000 overnight bookings.
The largest number of international visitors came from Germany, the United States, and Spain, with these markets also leading in the total number of nights spent in the city.
This recent surge is part of a larger upward trend. In the first seven months of the year, Zagreb recorded more than 767,000 arrivals and 1.5 million overnight stays, underscoring its dual appeal for both cultural getaways and business tourism.
Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, said the results confirm the city’s position as a competitive and sustainable urban destination. She attributed this success to enhanced tourism offerings and targeted promotional efforts.
Driven by its strong “city break” appeal, particularly among American and German travelers, Zagreb continues to be a cornerstone of Croatia’s tourism sector and is poised for sustained growth on the European travel map.
