Kourtney Kardashian is addressing social media backlash after posting a photo from a family vacation that showed her young son on a boat without a life jacket.
On Friday, the reality star shared a series of snapshots from a trip to Idaho, captioned “Food for the soul.” One image featured her 21-month-old son, Rocky, whom she shares with husband Travis Barker, aboard a boat without a personal flotation device, prompting immediate criticism from followers.
Commenters quickly condemned the apparent safety oversight. “Not having a life jacket on your baby while in a boat is reckless and ILLEGAL,” one user wrote. Another commented, “And the Mother of the year award goes to……”
The following day, Kardashian responded to the concerns on her Instagram story. Posting a screenshot of an infant life vest, she wrote, “Update: bought a life vest that fits!” She continued, “Good looking out. Honestly didn’t think about some of the dangers. Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest.”
Her candid acknowledgment was met with praise from many users. “I love that instead of getting angry she took the advice and wants to protect her child,” one follower commented. Another added, “What a great response from Kourtney. There are many times in life when we just simply don’t think of something until someone points it out.”
This is not the first time Kardashian has faced scrutiny from online critics regarding her parenting and household choices. She previously received backlash for Halloween decorations at her Southern California home, which included two large inflatable skeletons arranged in a sexually suggestive position that some followers deemed inappropriate for children.
Kardashian and Barker, who married in Italy in 2022, welcomed their son Rocky in November 2023. She also has three children with her former partner, Scott Disick, while Barker has three children from his previous marriage to Shanna Moakler.
