In their first matchup since 2012, No. 4 Stanford defeated Hawaii in a decisive 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 sweep Friday at Maples Pavilion. The victory marked the Cardinal’s first home win against the Rainbow Wahine since 1997.
Stanford (7-2) showcased a strong defensive performance, holding Hawaii (4-5) to a .179 hitting percentage while capitalizing on a .262 clip offensively. The Cardinal defense was anchored by a season-high 64 digs.
Senior Elia Rubin led all players with a double-double, recording 16 kills on .382 hitting and 13 digs. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew delivered a career-best performance with 12 kills on a highly efficient .647 attack percentage.
Setter Logan Parks orchestrated the offense, posting the first double-double of her career with 36 assists and a career-high 15 digs. Libero Spencer Etzler was also a key contributor, tallying a career- and match-high 16 digs to go with five assists and two aces. Reigning ACC Freshman of the Week Erika Sayer added nine kills and a team-high four blocks.
For Hawaii, Cha’lei Reid finished with 10 kills, while Stella Adeyemi contributed eight kills and 11 digs.
Stanford returns to action on Saturday, hosting Texas State at Maples Pavilion with first serve scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
