World number nine MacIntyre delivered a formidable round after starting on the 10th tee. He carded early birdies on the 11th, 12th, and 14th holes, and his strong form continued after the turn, where a run of three birdies in five holes was marred only by a single bogey on the second.
“It was almost a perfect round of golf, especially once the weather came in,” the 29-year-old said. “It’s difficult when it gets this windy. I was having to fight the wind on certain holes and wasn’t comfortable—but I made some beautiful shots.”
Elsewhere, England’s Nathan Kimsey made DP World Tour history at the Old Course, carding nine consecutive birdies to tie a tour record. The 32-year-old joins Matt Wallace and James Nitties as only the third player to achieve the feat. His remarkable streak began on the second hole and contributed to a round of 68, leaving him at five under par.
With play suspended, nearly a third of the 168-player field will complete their second rounds on Saturday morning, ahead of a scheduled 12:30 shotgun start for the third round. The tournament boasts a $5 million prize fund, with $800,000 awarded to the winner. A separate team championship, which includes celebrities from sports and entertainment, offers a $50,000 prize to the winning duo.
