Colombia and France are set to compete for third place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, with both nations aiming to conclude their campaigns on a positive note after falling short in the semifinals.
Colombia’s bid for the final was ended by a narrow 1-0 defeat to rival Argentina. The team’s journey to the semifinals was impressive, highlighted by key victories over Spain (3-2) and South Africa (3-1). Their campaign also included a 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia and draws with Nigeria and Norway.
France, meanwhile, was eliminated by Morocco following a 1-1 draw in their semifinal clash. The French squad showcased its offensive strength earlier in the tournament, most notably with a dominant 6-0 victory against New Zealand. Their path to the final four also included wins over Japan, Norway, and South Africa.
As the two teams prepare for their final match, Colombia is regarded as the slight favorite to secure the bronze medal. Both sides, however, will be highly motivated to claim a podium finish and end their otherwise successful tournament runs with a victory.
