Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been indefinitely suspended from the team following his arrest over the weekend, head coach Kalen DeBoer announced Monday.
Kirkpatrick was arrested Saturday and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude, and speeding. He was later released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail after posting a $1,500 bond.
“With the information that I have at this time, I talked to Dre, and we need to indefinitely suspend him,” DeBoer stated. “He understands there are consequences that come with his actions.”
The sophomore, who is the son of former Alabama defensive back and NFL veteran Dre Kirkpatrick, has recorded eight tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and a forced fumble this season.
The suspension comes as No. 4 Alabama prepares to host LSU on Saturday.
