With the cancellation of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3 and the reported departure of the DCEU’s Justice League cast, the new DC Universe is set to introduce a rebooted version of the iconic Amazonian hero.
DC Studios co-head James Gunn has confirmed that a new Wonder Woman film is a priority and is currently in development. The script is being written by Ana Nogueira, who is also attached to the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. While official casting for Diana Prince will not commence until the script is finalized, fan speculation has already identified several potential candidates, with Alexandra Daddario emerging as a prominent name.
Recent fan art depicting Daddario in the role has gained significant traction online, fueling discussions about her suitability for the part. Many supporters point to her previous role as Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson film series, where she portrayed a warrior demigod with roots in Greek mythology. This experience with mythologically-inspired action roles is seen as a strong foundation for portraying Diana of Themyscira.
Furthermore, Daddario has existing ties to the DC brand, having voiced Lois Lane in several animated movies within DC’s “Tomorrowverse.” Proponents of her casting argue that the intelligence, determination, and charm she brought to the iconic reporter are qualities that would translate seamlessly to a compelling live-action performance as Wonder Woman.
