The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Alexandria’s shoreline, effective from midnight Saturday through early Monday morning. Low-lying areas are expected to see up to one foot of inundation due to tidal flooding.
The advisory, which also covers shoreline areas in Arlington County, forecasts tides running 2 to 2.5 feet above normal. Officials predict water may approach the curb near the intersection of King and Strand streets, with the most significant flooding anticipated around high tide. High tide in Alexandria is at 12:11 p.m. Saturday and 12:25 a.m. Sunday.
Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their property. The weather service also urges motorists to allow extra time for travel, as some roads may be closed. Drivers should not attempt to navigate through floodwater of unknown depth or drive around barricades.

Tonight: Showers are likely, mainly after 5 a.m. Cloudy with a low around 61. A northeast wind of 7 to 10 mph could gust as high as 21 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%, with a tenth to a quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday: Showers with a high near 65. Northeast wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts up to 31 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%, with new rainfall between a quarter and half of an inch.
Sunday Night: Showers are likely. Cloudy with a low around 57. Northeast wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%, with a tenth to a quarter of an inch of new rainfall possible.
