Ángel Correa’s Brace Leads Tigres to 4-1 Victory Over Houston Dynamo in Leagues Cup Opener
Tigres UANL opened its Leagues Cup campaign with a decisive 4-1 victory against the Houston Dynamo, fueled by a standout two-goal performance from Argentine striker Ángel Correa.
Correa put Tigres ahead in the 45th minute, skillfully maneuvering past a defender after receiving a long pass to find the net. However, Houston responded immediately after halftime, with Ondrej Lingr leveling the score at 1-1 in the 46th minute.
The match turned in the 62nd minute when a critical error from the Dynamo gifted Tigres the lead. An attempted clearance by Houston’s goalkeeper was intercepted by Diego Lainez, who capitalized on the mistake with a mid-range strike to make it 2-1. The goal was significant for Lainez, ending a 16-match scoring drought for the club.
Correa secured his brace in the 69th minute to extend the lead, marking his first official goals for Tigres. Ozziel Herrera then sealed the emphatic win with a final goal deep into stoppage time at the 96th minute.
