Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves is set to return to the American Century Championship Celebrity Golf tournament, aiming to improve on his debut performance from last year. A well-known golf enthusiast, Reaves will once again compete in the popular Lake Tahoe event.
In his first appearance, Reaves entered with the third-best odds to win but finished tied for 13th overall with NBA Hall of Famer Ray Allen. Following that result, his odds for this year’s tournament have shifted to +1600, placing him eighth among the favorites.
Reaves faces a formidable field of past champions. The top contenders include defending champion and two-time winner Mardy Fish (7/2), Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry (9/2), and three-time champion Tony Romo (9/2). Former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder, who won three consecutive titles from 2015 to 2017, is also ranked ahead of Reaves at 8/1.
Known for the competitive drive he displays on the basketball court, Reaves is motivated to deliver a stronger showing this year. The tournament is scheduled for July 9-13 in Lake Tahoe, with the first round beginning on Friday, July 11. Coverage will be available on Peacock for the opening round and on NBC for the Saturday and Sunday rounds.
Reaves may soon have a new partner on the links, as Lakers superstar LeBron James recently revealed on social media that he has taken up golf as a hobby. James shared that while he has a long way to go, he is enjoying the process of learning the game.
