Authorities on Wednesday identified the man killed at the Burning Man festival last week as Vadim Kruglov, a Russian citizen.
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office reported that Kruglov was identified through fingerprints by the Washoe Medical Examiner’s Office, and his family has been notified. His body was found after 9 p.m. Saturday, lying in a pool of blood.
No suspect has been identified, and officials are withholding details about the manner of death during the ongoing investigation. The sheriff’s office has appealed to the public for help in locating “any person who would commit such a heinous crime against another human being.”
In a statement, the Burning Man organization offered condolences to Kruglov’s family, grieving the “loss of a community member.” Organizers pledged to fully assist the sheriff’s investigation and announced a coordinated donation to the Secret Witness program, which offers rewards for information leading to an arrest.
This homicide was one of several notable incidents at this year’s festival in Black Rock City, Nevada. In an unrelated event, a baby was unexpectedly delivered in an RV to a woman who was unaware she was pregnant. Additionally, powerful dust storms overturned and destroyed the camp of the festival’s infamous “Orgy Tent.”
The event has seen other fatalities in recent years. In 2024, 39-year-old Kendra Frazer died after emergency services were unable to revive her.
