Two Chinese nationals have died and an Indonesian is missing after a fast boat capsized on its way to the popular island of Bali on Tuesday.
According to Bali’s search and rescue agency, the vessel, traveling from Nusa Penida, sank near Sanur port with 80 people on board. The passengers included 73 foreign nationals and two Indonesians, in addition to five crew members.
I Nyoman Sidakarya, head of the search and rescue agency in the provincial capital of Denpasar, confirmed the two fatalities. The overturned boat was found aground on a beach near the port, and a search is underway for the missing 23-year-old Indonesian.
Authorities have not yet released the cause of the Chinese nationals’ deaths.
