The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly signing quarterback Desmond Ridder, adding an experienced backup behind starter Joe Burrow.
A third-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ridder spent two seasons with the team, taking over as the full-time starter in his second year. In 19 total appearances and 17 starts for Atlanta, he passed for 3,544 yards with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
This past offseason, the Falcons traded Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for wide receiver Rondale Moore. Ridder was subsequently released by the Cardinals, making him a free agent.
The signing provides Cincinnati with a seasoned reserve quarterback, a priority for the team. The move also marks a homecoming for Ridder, who was a collegiate star at the University of Cincinnati. His connection to the organization includes head coach Zac Taylor, who had previously recruited the quarterback by offering him a scholarship to play for the Bearcats.
