Bernice King, daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., has commented on the public dispute between WNBA star Angel Reese and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III.
The exchange began after Griffin posted on social media about the need to “build bridges” and find unity by “talking through our differences.” King responded directly, writing, “I agree. That’s why I suggest you call Angel Reese and stop posting about her.”
King’s comment, which drew significant online attention, followed a series of posts from Griffin. On Thursday, he claimed a source from Reese’s “inner circle” confirmed to him that the Chicago Sky forward “hates” her rival, Caitlin Clark.
Griffin’s post began by condemning a racist image of Reese that had circulated, stating there is “no place for racism in the world.” He then addressed his previous commentary on the Reese-Clark dynamic, which he said had drawn backlash.
“I never attacked her or her family when I stated and backed up with clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark,” Griffin wrote. He added that people from Reese’s circle had told him she “has grown to hate Caitlin Clark because of the media always asking her about Caitlin and being constantly compared to her.”
Reese appeared to deny Griffin’s account, writing, “lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work.” Reese’s mother also challenged Griffin’s claim, stating that whoever he spoke with was not authorized to speak on her daughter’s feelings.
Griffin responded to Reese’s mother, writing, “Instead of trying to check me, just tighten up your circle. They calling me and saying you hate Caitlin Clark, not the other way around.”
The commentator first made the claim that Reese “hates” Clark following a contentious on-court incident between the two players in May.
