Bob Caudle, a former WRAL weatherman who became the legendary voice for National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) broadcasts, has died at the age of 95.
The NWA announced his passing on Sunday, stating in a social media post that Caudle left an “indelible mark on the NWA, its programming, and fans.” The organization honored his memory by citing his iconic sign-off: “So long for now.”
Wrestling icon Ric Flair also paid tribute, remembering Caudle as a “great friend” who helped him develop his interview skills. “You were a great man Bob, and you will be remembered forever as one of the greatest announcers of all time,” Flair wrote. “I cherish all the time that I got to spend with you.”
A Charlotte native, Caudle was a weatherman at WRAL in the 1960s, the same station where NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was taped. This proximity led to a dual career, and for many years, he balanced his meteorology duties with his role as the signature voice of the wrestling promotion.
