Disney has revealed that the sixth installment in the animated Ice Age franchise will be titled Ice Age: Boiling Point and is scheduled for release on February 5, 2027. The announcement was made at the Destination D23 event in Orlando, Florida.
The upcoming film is described as a “dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure” that follows Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd as they explore “never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.” It was previously confirmed in November 2024 that series veterans Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg would all return to voice their characters.
Boiling Point is the first mainline film in the series since 2016’s Ice Age: Collision Course, which grossed $408.5 million worldwide. The franchise, which began in 2002, has generated over $3.2 billion in total, spanning multiple films, a spinoff, and a series of shorts on Disney+.
During the same presentation, Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush announced the studio’s next original film, Hexed. Directed by Josie Trinidad (Zootopia+) and Jason Hand (Moana 2), the film follows an awkward teenage boy and his mother who discover that his unusual traits are actually magical powers that disrupt their lives and a hidden world of magic.
Other major projects teased at Destination D23 included Toy Story 5, Tron: Ares, and Zootopia 2.
