The public dispute between country music star Zach Bryan and Barstool Sports personality Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia has reignited following a tense social media exchange.
The conflict, which had been dormant since their contentious breakup last year, resurfaced after a fan on TikTok speculated that Bryan’s new song, “River Washed Hair,” was about LaPaglia. In the track, Bryan sings of regrets over a breakup with a woman named “Anna” who has “long, dark, river-washed hair.” The fan posted a clip of the song with the caption, “Did someone check on Bri lol.”
Bryan responded directly in the post’s comments, writing, “Lmfao I said ‘sweet’ this is not about whatever she has going on hahahahahaah.” The comment was later deleted.
LaPaglia, who apparently saw the comment before its removal, issued a sharp rebuttal. “Lmao obviously he doesn’t think I’m sweet,” she wrote. “I turned down 12 million dollars to share my abuse while (other exes of Bryan’s) Rose and Deb signed NDAs. Also FYI his songs aren’t about anyone, he writes them blackout at 6 AM.”
She also suggested she might reveal “some videos & stories” about Bryan on an upcoming episode of her podcast.
This exchange echoes allegations LaPaglia first made last November. At the time, she claimed Bryan offered her $12 million and a New York apartment to sign a non-disclosure agreement after their split.
“The last year of my life has been like the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she said previously. “I’m still scared right now because I’m scared of him.”
LaPaglia described what she termed “emotional abuse,” citing a cycle of mistreatment followed by apologies and promises to improve. “There was always another excuse as to why he was treating me so poorly and why I’m crying myself to sleep every night, why he’s screaming at me,” she stated.
She refused the alleged offer. “I did not accept any money,” LaPaglia affirmed. “I think that’s beneath me. I don’t think you can pay people off that you hurt for them to protect you. I think that in itself, offering millions of dollars… speaks volumes.”
LaPaglia claimed that Bryan deliberately ruined significant moments for her, including her birthday, a professional tour, and her attendance at the Golden Globes.
“I lost myself throughout this whole relationship,” she said, adding that the stress caused her to lose 15 pounds and become isolated from her family, friends, and work.
