Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are set to compete for the signature of Olympique Marseille’s teenage striker, Robinio Vaz.
The 18-year-old, who holds dual French and Guinea-Bissau nationality, has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most promising young talents this season. His composure in front of goal and rapid development have drawn significant attention, with four goals and two assists in 14 senior appearances for Marseille.
Chelsea have reportedly taken the most proactive stance, establishing early contact with the player’s representatives and opening a dialogue with Marseille. The West London club is considering a formal offer in the January transfer window as they continue to build a squad focused on young, attacking talent for their long-term project.
Arsenal are also monitoring the situation closely but are taking a more patient approach. The Gunners’ recruitment team, who have tracked Vaz since his time in France’s youth system, view him as a future investment who could seamlessly integrate into their evolving attack.
Marseille are in a strong negotiating position and are in no rush to sell. Vaz is under contract until June 2028, and the club has set an asking price between €20 million and €30 million. They have already rejected one offer from an unnamed European team, signalling their intent to only sell on their own terms.
The interest in Vaz extends beyond England. Borussia Dortmund, known for developing world-class young players, have joined the race, while Sevilla and Napoli are also tracking him as a potential addition for their upcoming squad overhauls.
To secure their asset, Marseille are in discussions with Vaz’s representatives over an improved contract. A new deal would likely include a significant salary increase and a release clause, which could further raise his market value and intensify the bidding war next summer.
