Dyson Daniels Inks Four-Year, 0M Extension with Hawks

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels has agreed to a four-year, $100 million rookie contract extension, his agent Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports Management told ESPN.

The extension follows a spectacular season for Daniels, who was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player, finished as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year, and earned a first-team All-Defense selection. His 229 steals were the most recorded in a single season by any player since Gary Payton in 1995-96.

Daniels, the eighth pick in the 2022 NBA draft, saw his scoring average surge to 14.1 points from 5.8 the previous season. He also averaged 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and a remarkable 3.0 steals, becoming the first player to average three or more steals per game since Alvin Robertson in 1990-91.

Atlanta acquired Daniels and a first-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in July 2024 in a trade for Dejounte Murray. The pairing of the defensive-minded Daniels with star point guard Trae Young has proven effective for the Hawks.
