Eminem Alleges Harassment by ‘RHOP’ Stars as Trademark Dispute Intensifies

Eminem has accused “Real Housewives of Potomac” stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon of harassment amid their escalating trademark dispute. The new allegation stems from a disagreement over the scheduling of the rapper’s deposition, which was ordered by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

According to court documents, Bryant and Dixon claim that Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, has been difficult to schedule. After a date was set, the reality stars proposed an 11 a.m. start time, but Mathers’ legal team countered with 2 p.m. His attorney stated that securing the musician’s time is challenging and suggested the deposition be limited to two hours, though they offered to stay longer if necessary.

Bryant and Dixon objected to the 2 p.m. start, calling it “unreasonable” and describing the offer as a “take-it-or-leave-it approach” that demonstrated a “lack of good faith.”

In response, Mathers argued that the podcast hosts’ “refusal to cooperate” and their decision to file a motion over a “three-hour start-time difference” proves their pursuit of his deposition is “designed to harass.”

The legal conflict began in February 2023 when Eminem opposed a trademark application for “Reasonably Shady,” the name of the podcast Bryant and Dixon launched in 2021. The application sought to cover entertainment services and a range of merchandise.

Eminem, who has used the monikers “Slim Shady” and “Shady” since the 1990s and owns the trademark for “Shady” merchandise, claims that “Reasonably Shady” would cause consumer confusion and damage his brand. An attorney for Bryant and Dixon has previously stated they deny any likelihood of confusion and are prepared to defend their intellectual property.
