Everton’s historical home dominance over Fulham has waned significantly in recent years. After winning 22 consecutive home league games against the Cottagers between 1961 and 2018, the Toffees are now winless in their last four encounters at Goodison Park, drawing one and losing three. In fact, Fulham have lost just one of their last seven Premier League meetings with Everton overall.
David Moyes’ side is looking to avoid back-to-back home league defeats for the first time since the winter of last season, a run not seen under the Scottish manager since October 2011. This follows a 3-0 loss to Spurs in their last match at Goodison Park. Everton’s form has dipped recently, with only one win in their last seven league matches after winning five of the previous six.
Fulham arrive on Merseyside with their own struggles, particularly on the road. Despite securing their third league win of the season against Wolves recently, all of their victories have come at home. The Cottagers have lost their last four consecutive away fixtures and are seeking to avoid a longer losing streak on their travels for the first time since last season.
A peculiar statistic highlights Fulham’s attack: own goals are their leading scorer this season. Opponents have put the ball in their own net three times in Fulham’s favour, more than any individual player, with Ryan Sessegnon and Harry Wilson next on two goals each.
Conversely, Everton have shown marked improvement in their ball retention under Moyes. They are averaging 302 passes per game, their highest since the 2020-21 campaign, while their 79.6% passing accuracy is the best recorded under the current manager.
On a personal level, Moyes is on the cusp of a significant milestone. He has won 19 of his 32 Premier League games against Fulham—at least seven more than against any other club. Another victory would make him only the third manager, after Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger, to defeat a single opponent 20 times in the competition.
Looking at individual form, Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon has been prolific this calendar year, scoring six goals in 23 games, two more than he managed in his previous 75 appearances combined. Meanwhile, the creative link between Alex Iwobi and Harry Wilson has been a key feature for the visitors; Iwobi has created eight chances for Wilson, the most of any player for a single teammate in the Premier League this season.
