The Liga MX Apertura 2025 season kicks off with FC Juárez hosting Club América at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez. The match marks a new beginning for América after the sting of defeat in last season’s final, while Juárez aims to secure its first points of the campaign at home.
Known as Los Bravos, FC Juárez enters the new season looking to build on a promising Clausura 2025 campaign that saw them reach the Play-In tournament. The team was on the verge of qualifying for the Liguilla playoffs before a decisive loss to Pumas ended their run. This marks the second semester under Uruguayan manager Martín Verini, who posted a solid record of six wins, seven draws, and five losses in his first 18 matches. The club is focused on improving its performance and climbing the league standings this season.
Meanwhile, Club América is looking to rebound from significant disappointment. Their quest for a historic fourth consecutive league title was cut short by Toluca in the previous tournament’s final. The loss was compounded when André Jardine’s squad failed to qualify for the Club World Cup after losing a crucial playoff match against LAFC. Adding to the challenge, Las Águilas must now cope with the departure of Diego Valdés, a key playmaker and locker-room leader who was instrumental in their previous three championship victories.
The match is scheduled for Friday, July 11, at 11:00 PM ET.
