Alphabet’s Google is intensifying its competition with Microsoft for corporate customers by launching two new services designed to ensure business continuity during Microsoft 365 outages.
The new offerings from Google Workspace, the company’s suite of cloud-based tools, are aimed at businesses currently using Microsoft products. One service automatically syncs emails and files, allowing employees to switch to Gmail and Google Drive if Microsoft’s services go down. The second is a comprehensive migration package that bundles Google’s tools with services from partners, such as identity-management firms Okta and JumpCloud, to facilitate an enterprise’s complete departure from the Microsoft ecosystem.
