Grammy-winning artist Laufey, known for collaborating with Barbra Streisand and performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, is expanding into children’s literature with her debut picture book, “Mei Mei The Bunny,” inspired by her personal mascot.
Penguin Workshop announced Tuesday that the book, illustrated by Lauren O’Hara, will be published on April 21, 2025. The story follows the titular character’s determined journey to become a professional musician despite encountering early struggles.
“I’m so excited to now share Mei Mei The Bunny in storybook form!” Laufey said in a statement. “Mei Mei has been a part of my life for over the last few years and opening up the world around her has been the most beautiful exploration. I hope that anyone at any age can find something in Mei Mei’s story that inspires them and connects them to the people in their lives.”
The 26-year-old Icelandic musician, born Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, has gained international acclaim for her distinctive fusion of pop, classical, and jazz. Her 2023 album, “Bewitched,” won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
