The Houston area is bracing for a wet weekend as lingering tropical moisture is expected to fuel scattered thunderstorms and raise concerns about potential street flooding.
A weather pattern similar to the one that affected South Texas on Friday will persist, driven by high levels of atmospheric moisture. This has prompted a marginal flood risk for the entire region on Saturday. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, residents should remain alert for heavier bursts of rain that could cause localized issues.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible before noon on Saturday, with the highest chance for more widespread activity forecast between noon and 7 p.m. The most significant rainfall is expected in the Houston metro area and along the I-10 corridor. The weather may also affect outdoor events, including the public opening of the Houston Texans Training Camp.
The tropical disturbance that brought the moisture has moved inland and no longer poses a threat of developing into a tropical depression.
Conditions are expected to become drier on Sunday. By early next week, the region is forecast to return to a typical summer pattern, with a mix of sun and humidity pushing temperatures into the upper 90s.
