Actors Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn recently shared a surprising detail about their 18-year marriage, revealing that they maintain separate finances.
During an appearance on Sirius XM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” the couple explained their unconventional financial arrangement. “We keep our money completely separate,” Romijn said, adding that it was “one of the first conversations you have when you decide to enter into a legal agreement together.”
While their personal earnings are kept apart, they do contribute to a shared “community pot” to cover family expenses. O’Connell and Romijn, who have 16-year-old twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie, make quarterly deposits into this joint account.
The contribution amounts are flexible and depend on their respective work schedules. “The one who’s not working gets a little bit of a break and the one who is working puts in a little more,” Romijn clarified. “We really tag-team with work.”
This collaborative approach also defines their parenting philosophy. The couple made a pact after their daughters were born that one parent would always stay home while the other was working. “So, no one else is ever going to raise them besides us,” Romijn stated.
The conversation about their finances began after host Andy Cohen joked about O’Connell’s income, referencing the end of his role on CBS’s “The Talk.” O’Connell became a permanent host on the daytime show in 2021, following Sharon Osbourne’s departure. The series is set to conclude its 15-season run in December 2024.
