Darius Bazley scored 27 points, punctuated by a game-winning putback dunk, to lift the Los Angeles Lakers to a dramatic 89-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at the California Classic on Tuesday.
In a tightly contested game at Chase Center, the Spurs held a five-point lead at halftime and maintained their advantage through the third quarter. However, the Lakers orchestrated a stunning fourth-quarter comeback, closing the game on a 20-5 run to seize the one-point win.
Bazley delivered a dominant all-around performance, adding 13 rebounds to his point total for a double-double. He was highly efficient, shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 10-for-12 from the free-throw line in 25 minutes of action. Dalton Knecht provided a major offensive spark with 25 points, while Cole Swider contributed 15 points, four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
For the Spurs, David Jones Garcia was the primary offensive force, finishing with 25 points, six rebounds, and five assists as the team’s only player to score in double figures. Carter Bryant added nine points and two blocks, and Osayi Osifo chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.
Both teams will continue their Summer League schedules in Las Vegas on Thursday, with the Lakers set to face the Dallas Mavericks and the Spurs matching up against the Philadelphia 76ers.
