Olympic ski champion Lindsey Vonn turned heads at the 2025 ESPY Awards, where a daring fashion choice led to a near wardrobe malfunction averted by her sister.
Attending the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Vonn, 40, wore a strapless eggplant-colored Elisabetta Franchi gown from the designer’s fall/winter 2025 collection. The dress featured a dramatic, hip-grazing slit that intentionally showcased her toned legs and a black G-string.
While on the red carpet, a gust of wind lifted the gown’s fabric, nearly causing an overexposure. Vonn’s sister, Karin Kildrow, quickly intervened, stepping in front of the athlete to shield her from the cameras and prevent the mishap.
Vonn completed her look with statement drop earrings, a black clutch, and platform heels, styling her hair in wet waves with smokey eye makeup. During the event, she changed into a second ensemble: a sparkling silver fringe dress with a plunging V-neck and a sheer skirt.
The athlete was nominated for Best Comeback Performance following her return to competitive skiing after retiring at the end of the 2018-2019 season. In March, she became the oldest woman to win at the Ski World Cup finals. Vonn plans to continue her career, with her sights set on the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
