The Seattle Seahawks are embarking on one of the NFL’s most demanding road trips this week, a cross-country journey from the Pacific Northwest to the coast of Florida. Under head coach Mike Macdonald, however, long-distance travel has proven to be a strength. The Seahawks have been dominant away from home, boasting a 9-1 record on the road since the start of last season. The team is riding a franchise-record eight-game road winning streak—the longest active streak in the league—with three of those victories secured by double-digit margins.
Sustaining that success will hinge on ball security. Seattle committed two costly turnovers in its recent 38-35 loss to Tampa Bay and now faces a Jacksonville defense that leads the NFL with 14 takeaways. During his last visit to EverBank Stadium in November, quarterback Sam Darnold threw three interceptions—nearly four, if not for a penalty—yet his former team still defeated an injury-depleted Jaguars squad 12-7. Darnold will have no such margin for error against the current Jaguars, who are coming off an inspired comeback win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
