The University of New Mexico Lobos will travel to Las Vegas for a crucial Mountain West matchup against the UNLV Rebels on November 1. Coming off a 33-14 victory over Utah State, the Lobos (5-3, 2-2 MW) are set to face a formidable Rebels team (6-1, 2-1 MW) that is returning from a bye week.
A victory for New Mexico would secure bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016 and keep the team in contention for the conference championship. The Lobos’ success has been fueled by a dominant ground game; they are undefeated this season when rushing for over 100 yards, a benchmark they cleared with 224 rushing yards against Utah State. UNLV, which won its first six games, enters the contest after its first defeat of the season, a 56-31 loss at Boise State.
The contest will feature two of the conference’s newer head coaches, Jason Eck of New Mexico and Barry Odom of UNLV. The Lobos will aim to snap a three-game losing streak against the Rebels as they return to a familiar city, having played their 2020 home season in Las Vegas at Sam Boyd Stadium.
Individually, New Mexico is led by standout tight end Cade Keith, who was recently named both the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week. He is the first tight end in program history to receive a weekly conference honor.
The game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network, with a free live stream available via the MW App and at golobos.com/watch. Matt Neverette will handle play-by-play duties with Caleb Herring providing analysis. Radio coverage will be available on the Lobo Radio Network, featuring commentators Robert Portnoy and DonTrell Moore.
