This weekend, Los Angeles offers a vibrant schedule of cultural events, Halloween festivities, and unique culinary experiences from October 24-26. Arts & Culture
The L.A. Dance Project returns to The Wallis from Thursday to Saturday, presenting the U.S. premiere of choreographer Benjamin Millepied’s complete triptych. The performance features three pieces—”Reflections,” “Hearts & Arrows,” and “On the Other Side”—set to music by Philip Glass with visual designs by artists Barbara Kruger and Mark Bradford. Tickets start at $42.90.
On Saturday, Grand Ave Arts: All Access offers a free, district-wide open house in Downtown Los Angeles. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 13 cultural institutions will provide a full day of performances, workshops, and family-friendly activities.
The biannual Brewery Artwalk returns on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This free event allows the public to visit the studios of over 100 resident artists, view their work, and purchase pieces directly.
At BroadStage in Santa Monica this Saturday, acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancers and choreographers Aparna and Ashwini Ramaswamy will perform their first duet evening, Ananta, The Eternal, a new work exploring themes of body, memory, and devotion.
Clockshop will host an opening reception for TJ Shin’s sound installation, “Songs of Emerging Endangerment,” at Los Angeles State Historic Park on Saturday. The event, free with a suggested $5 donation, includes an artist performance lecture at 2:45 p.m.
The Last Remaining Seats series presents a Halloween double feature at the historic Million Dollar Theater on Saturday. Screenings include Young Frankenstein at 2 p.m. and Carrie at 8 p.m., with tickets starting at $25.
On Sunday, The Hammer Museum’s free Family Flicks series will feature a screening of the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 11 a.m.
Festivals & Halloween Events
Día de los Muertos celebrations begin this weekend. On Saturday, Gloria Molina Grand Park hosts the free Downtown Día de los Muertos from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring a community altar, family activities, and the inaugural parade. The altars will remain on view through November 2. On Sunday, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes will hold its Día de los Muertos Family Day with dance performances, free workshops, and food vendors starting at noon.
The Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party returns Saturday for a 21+ event featuring live music, a full bar, a costume contest, and food. Admission is free.
In Griffith Park, the P-22 Day Festival on Saturday honors the legacy of L.A.’s most famous mountain lion with free, family-friendly exhibits and educational activities from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The city of San Gabriel hosts its free Fall Fun Festival in the Mission District on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., offering a range of family-friendly Halloween activities.
In Long Beach, the annual Festival of Flight returns to the LGB airfield on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event includes aircraft displays, live music, and kids’ activities. Also in Long Beach, Fourth Fridays on Retro Row will feature pop-ups, performances, and extended store hours for a special Pride edition on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The 7th Annual Disability Pride Parade & Festival will take place at the East L.A. Civic Center on Saturday, featuring live entertainment and community resources.
Movie fans can enjoy a free outdoor screening of Beetlejuice at Ivy Station in Culver City on Friday evening. At Heritage Square Museum, Street Food Cinema’s Boo-ze Bites & Frights continues Friday and Saturday with horror double features, spooky house tours, and a haunted trail. Tickets start at $35.
Benny Boy Brewing will host a Rocky Horror Night on Saturday to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary. The free, 21+ event includes live music from the Blow Brass Band, a costume contest, and a “Spooky Sketchmart” art market.
Other ongoing events include the Urban Death Tour of Terror at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre, running Fridays and Saturdays, and Boo at the Zoo at the Los Angeles Zoo, offering seasonal activities included with general admission on weekends.
Dining & Drinking
On Sunday, OTOTO in Echo Park will host a book launch party for For the Love of Kewpie. Authors Elyse Inamine and Jessie YuChen will be present to sign copies of the new cookbook. The event features a special menu inspired by the famous Japanese mayonnaise. Tickets are $20 and include a welcome drink and a limited-edition keychain.
Maple Block Meat Co. in Culver City celebrates its 10th anniversary with BlocktoberFest on Sunday. The event offers all-you-can-eat barbecue, local craft beer, and live music. Tickets are $55 for adults, while children 10 and under eat for free. General admission to the event is $10.
On Saturday and Sunday, The Culver Hotel offers a Spooky Tea service from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The experience includes Halloween-themed sandwiches and pastries, accompanied by classic spooky films and music. The tea is $75 per person.
