McDonald’s is launching the “McDonaldland Meal,” a new offering for adults that brings back a cast of its classic characters. The promotion follows the viral success of the Grimace Birthday Meal in June 2023 and reunites figures such as Ronald McDonald, Birdie, Hamburglar, and the Fry Friends.
Scheduled to launch on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the meal includes a choice of a Quarter Pounder with cheese or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, served with fries and a new, limited-edition Mt. McDonaldland Shake. While its flavor remains undisclosed, the company described the shake’s appearance as being inspired by the “vibrant blue ‘lava’ and pink clouds” of the volcano in its fictional universe. Each meal will also come with one of six collectible tins containing character-inspired items like postcards and stickers.
The campaign extends beyond food with limited-edition merchandise collaborations, including a collection with PacSun launching on August 12 and another with Away on August 18. This initiative is the latest in a series of marketing efforts designed to boost sales, following the recent return of the SnackWrap and a special Minecraft meal promotion.
“For the first time in decades we are taking fans on a trip to McDonaldland with an immersive experience that taps into the past to create the future,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP of U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture. “It’s a chance for us to give fans a new, modern way to experience this magical world.”
The announcement preceded the company’s second-quarter financial report, which revealed a 3.8% increase in global comparable sales. In the U.S., same-store sales grew by 2.5%, a significant turnaround from the 3.6% decrease reported in the first quarter.
Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski attributed the performance to the company’s strategy. “Our 6% global Systemwide sales growth this quarter is a testament to the power of compelling value, standout marketing, and menu innovation,” he stated.
