South Dakota State senior forward Brooklyn Meyer has been named the Summit League’s first Women’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week for the season, a recognition of her dominant role in powering the Jackrabbits to a 2-0 start.
Meyer began the season with a near-career-high 33 points on 14-of-20 shooting to lead SDSU to a 78-62 road victory over Creighton, a team receiving votes in the national polls. She also contributed eight rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in the win.
In the team’s 79-65 home-opening win against Rice, Meyer recorded her 14th career double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. After being limited to five points in the first half, she scored 17 in the second to secure the victory, adding four more blocks to her weekly total.
For the week, Meyer averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks while shooting 59 percent from the field, leading all Summit League players in scoring and blocks. This marks the seventh weekly conference honor of her career.
