MLK’s Daughter Bernice King Weighs In on RG3, Angel Reese Controversy

Bernice King, the daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., has publicly addressed the ongoing social media dispute between WNBA star Angel Reese and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The controversy escalated when Griffin posted about the need to “build bridges” and “find unity,” prompting a direct response from King. “I agree,” she wrote. “That’s why I suggest you call Angel Reese and stop posting about her.”

King’s comment, which quickly went viral, was met with approval from Reese, who shared another user’s post praising King for her intervention.

The exchange stems from Griffin’s recent claims that he was told by someone in Reese’s “inner circle” that the Chicago Sky forward “hates” fellow WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark. Griffin’s comments came within a post where he also condemned a racist image of Reese, stating there is “no place for racism in the world.” However, he stood by his previous analysis of the players’ rivalry.

“I never attacked her or her family when I stated and backed up with clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark,” Griffin wrote, adding, “People in Angel’s inner circle called me and told me I was right.”

Reese and her mother swiftly refuted Griffin’s account. The WNBA star accused Griffin of “lying on this app… for clout.” Her mother added, “Whomever U say ‘called’ U is not in her circle 2 speak on her feelings.”

In response, Griffin doubled down, writing, “I won’t let anyone twist the truth just because it’s inconvenient to them. Instead of trying to check me, just tighten up your circle.”

Griffin first made the claim about the rivalry after a contentious on-court incident between Reese and Clark in May.
