A northwest Houston man, Joel Abarca, has been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection with a violent home invasion that occurred in March 2024.
Prosecutors allege that during the incident in the 13000 block of Eldridge Valley Drive, Abarca was part of a group that held two adults and a child at gunpoint. The victims were pistol-whipped and then locked inside a closet while the suspects robbed the residence.
While several other arrests had previously been made in the case, Harris County investigators said new evidence uncovered in the past month linked Abarca to the crime scene. According to court documents, he is accused of acting as a lookout or coordinator during the invasion.
Abarca has appeared in court, where a judge set his bond at $100,000.
