A suspect is in custody after a stabbing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Football Operations Center on Saturday morning left multiple people injured.
In an official statement, the university confirmed that UAB Police and Public Safety are investigating the assault. The injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, and officials have assured there is no ongoing threat to the campus.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported two people to UAB Hospital. According to public safety radio communications, two of the victims were football players.
UAB Police are leading the investigation. The incident occurred hours before the UAB Blazers are scheduled to face the South Florida Bulls at Protective Stadium at 2 p.m.
