Asa Newell delivered a dominant second-half performance to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 98-80 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday in the NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas.
After scoring just three points before halftime, Newell erupted in the second half to finish with 18 points on efficient 7-for-9 shooting, including 4-for-5 from three-point range. He also secured a game-high 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.
The Hawks established control from the start, building a 30-17 lead after the first quarter. Phoenix steadily chipped away at the deficit, cutting it to six points heading into the final frame. However, Atlanta’s defense clamped down in the fourth, holding the Suns to just 14 points to secure the comfortable win.
Atlanta’s balanced attack featured key contributions from Nikola Đurišić, who posted 16 points and four assists, and Jacob Toppin, who added 15 points and eight rebounds.
For the Suns, Oso Ighodaro filled the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Koby Brea followed with 15 points, while Yuri Collins contributed 12 points and four assists in the loss.
