The NFL is reinforcing its emphasis on sportsmanship and respect, issuing five fines for taunting following the conclusion of Week 1.
Lions defensive back Brian Branch, Packers safety Xavier McKinney, Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith, Lions receiver Jameson Williams, and Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy were each fined $11,593 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Notably, the violations by Williams and Jeudy were not flagged on the field during their games. The fines were issued after a post-game league review, indicating a commitment to enforcing these rules even when infractions are missed by officials in real time.
All players have the right to appeal their fines; however, the league does not publicly disclose the outcomes of those appeals.
