The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals has upheld the driver’s license revocation of Bryce Drummond, the 22-year-old son of television personality Ree Drummond and a former Oklahoma State University football player.
The revocation stems from a 2024 incident in Stillwater where police arrested Drummond on suspicion of being in actual physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated. While a Payne County judge later dismissed the misdemeanor criminal charge in April, citing a lack of probable cause for the arrest, the license revocation proceeded as a separate civil action administered by Service Oklahoma.
Under the terms of the 180-day revocation, Drummond is permitted to operate his personal vehicle with an ignition interlock device and to drive an employer’s vehicle without one. In his appeal, Drummond’s attorney, Ky Corley, challenged the officer’s authority to approach the vehicle, the grounds for reasonable suspicion, and whether Drummond was in “actual physical control” of the truck on a public road.
On August 1, the appeals court ruled that the district court had not erred in its decision. Corley has announced plans to appeal the case to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
The initial encounter occurred in the early morning hours of May 11, 2024. A Stillwater police officer, investigating a nearby disturbance, observed the lights of Drummond’s parked pickup truck activate. The officer approached the vehicle, found Drummond in the driver’s seat, and reported that a field sobriety test indicated signs of intoxication. During the appeals process, Drummond was ticketed in Osage County for driving with a revoked license, though that charge was dismissed pending the outcome of his appeal.
Ree Drummond is the host of “The Pioneer Woman” on Food Network, a popular program filmed at her family’s ranch near Pawhuska, where she resides with her husband, Ladd Drummond. The Drummonds are a prominent ranching family and major landowners in Osage County. Their extended family includes Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
