Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin has been ruled out for a fourth consecutive game with a right quad injury, Coach Dan Quinn confirmed Friday, further depleting the team’s offense.
McLaurin sustained the injury during Washington’s Week 3 victory over the Raiders, and the team had been hopeful for his return ahead of Sunday’s game in Dallas. “It’s frustrating for him because he’s working at it hard,” Quinn said.
The Commanders (3-3), coming off a last-second loss to Chicago, are facing significant challenges at the receiver position. Earlier this week, Noah Brown was placed on injured reserve. The status of Deebo Samuel, who leads the team with 34 receptions for 315 yards and three touchdowns, also remains uncertain. Samuel practiced Friday but has been playing through a bruised heel for the past two games.
With McLaurin sidelined again, Washington will enter a contest without two of its top three wideouts for the fourth straight week.
Although Quinn initially suggested McLaurin would practice, the receiver was limited to a jog-through on Wednesday before being held out of practice on Thursday and Friday. Coaches and trainers monitored his running but proceeded with caution due to the soft-tissue injury. Quinn explained they have been evaluating McLaurin’s acceleration and deceleration but have not been able to test him at high speeds.
“We’re just not there yet,” Quinn stated. “Hopefully it’s sooner than later.”
