Quarterback Daniel Jones expressed excitement about the offensive unit’s diverse talent, highlighting the challenge it presents for opposing defenses. “Just how many different guys with different skillsets, different strengths, abilities we have and how hard that is for a defense to plan for and account for everybody,” Jones said. “I’m excited to get out there and play with these guys… with how well they’ve played all camp and how strong that group is, I think it’ll be a fun group to be a part of.”
That offense will face a formidable opponent in the Miami Dolphins. Last season, the Dolphins boasted a top-tier defense, ranking 10th in points allowed per game, ninth in yards per play, and in the top 10 for both third-down and red-zone efficiency. Heading into this preseason, their defensive line was rated the 11th-best in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
Jones acknowledged the talent he’ll be up against. “There’s a lot of impact players there,” he noted. “I think we have a strong front, so that is a good matchup for us. But a lot of good players, and we’ll study them, be ready for it. Good players in the back end too, smart guys who can make plays.”
Sunday’s game will be a key test of Jones’s consistency and decision-making, two qualities head coach Shane Steichen has praised. With six years of experience, Jones understands how to balance an aggressive approach with intelligent play to sustain drives and keep the offense on the field.
“Understanding where the ball needs to go versus certain looks, certain coverages,” Jones explained. “Staying on schedule, generating positive plays, keeping the offense moving forward.”
He stressed the importance of capitalizing on opportunities for big plays while also recognizing when to get the ball out quickly to his playmakers. It’s about “having an attacking mindset and playing at our tempo,” Jones concluded, “…playing with an edge but being aggressive when we have chances to be aggressive.”
