A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for East Texas for Monday, November 24, 2025, due to the threat of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to return to the region late Sunday night, increasing in coverage throughout Monday. An additional one to two inches of rain is expected on top of recent precipitation, creating a risk of water ponding on roadways for those traveling at the start of the Thanksgiving week. The heavy rainfall also brings the possibility of flooding, particularly for the northern half of East Texas.
The Storm Prediction Center has also placed most of the area under a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms. While storms capable of gusty winds and small hail are possible as early as Monday morning, the greatest threat for severe weather is anticipated during the afternoon and evening. The primary hazards include strong winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes.
