Severe thunderstorms swept through Nashville on Monday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning that disrupted travel throughout the afternoon and early evening.
The weather prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a temporary ground stop for all departing flights at Nashville International Airport.
The order was lifted around 3:15 p.m., but flights continued to experience significant disruptions. Passengers faced average delays of approximately 90 minutes, with the schedule impacts lasting until about 8 p.m.
With more thunderstorms possible on Tuesday, particularly in the afternoon, travelers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight status and plan accordingly.
